Fall Festival Tournament


This tournament is a fantastic opportunity to kick off the season with some fun and developmental exhibition hockey! We are excited to welcome you to Woodside Park in Kitchener on September 19th. Please see below for the welcome letter with code of conduct as well as the schedule for the day.

Why should your team join?

  • A chance for all players to get valuable early-season game experience.
  • Teams placed into pools based on skill level and geographical divisions (where possible).
  • 4 pools of 4 teams, playing 30-minute round-robin games.
  • Each team plays 3 games (no playoffs; set schedule)
  • On-site athletic therapy support.
  • A combination of experienced and developing players.

CODE OF CONDUCT

WWFHC and the Fall Festival promotes fair play, sportsmanship, learning, and community. WWFHC is dedicated to creating a safe space for everyone. There will be absolutely zero tolerance for unsportsmanlike behavior from athletes, parents, teachers, and coaches. Unsportsmanlike behavior includes yelling at the umpires. 

Any person whose behavior is deemed unacceptable by the umpires, volunteers, or tournament coordinators will be asked to leave the tournament and will not be permitted to return. We ask that everyone works together to support each other with kindness and continue to maintain a high standard.

Playing Rules and Regulations

The rules of play will be as stated in the current outdoor FIH rulebook with these specific additions:

Game Format

Games are 30 minutes in length, running time. There is no half-time or switching of ends. 

Time will start on the bell, play will start on the umpire whistle.

Games will end on the bell unless there is a penalty corner, in which case the umpire will communicate what players should do. 

Team Captains are to meet at the Center Tent 10 minutes before game time to meet with umpires, to determine side/ball.

Teams are to be on the field ready to play when the bell sounds.

Equipment Requirements

All players must wear shin pads and mouth guards.

The goalkeeper must wear a sweater of a different colour from her own team and the opposing team. Any protective equipment must be underneath the sweater.

Penalty Corners

Defense breaking early on a penalty corner will be given one warning, subsequent offences will result in the player being sent to the centre line and retaking the penalty corner.

Offense breaking early on a penalty corner will be given one warning, subsequent offences will result in the INJECTOR being sent to the centre line and retaking the penalty corner.

All substitutions shall occur at the centre line on your bench side of the field.

Each team will be permitted UNLIMITED substitutions except during a penalty corner –

A penalty corner is completed when:

a goal is scored 

a free hit is awarded to the defending team 

the ball travels more than 5 metres outside the circle 

the ball is played over the back-line and a penalty corner is not awarded 

a defender commits an offence which does not result in another penalty corner 

a penalty stroke is awarded

Unforeseen Events

  • Should circumstances arise which are not provided for in these regulations, Bronwyn and the organizing committee shall be advised and will deal with them.
